Today was another exciting day at Story Makers! We finished our Read Aloud The Dragon Slayers Academy #1 The New Kid At School. What a wonderful and funny story. I hope you get to enjoy more books from this fantastic series. We worked on choosing one of writings to publish for our author’s tea next week. Some of us had decided but others want to write more and more and more…..

We took our catapults out onto the basketball/badminton court in the schoolyard. All the catapults were set together and on the count of 1-2-3-GO! Each group had mini competitions.

The first group made triangular catapults with cardboard. The winner was William!

The second group with catapults made from milk cartons. The winner was Lucie-Anne!

The third group with the catapults mounted on toilet paper rolls. The winner was Annabel!

When we had all three winners competing all together, our overall winner was Annabel!

Each child will have the papers with the instructions to all three catapults in their folders should they want to make more. Miss Mary-Helen’s sons tested the catapults before the children made theirs. The size of two catapults had to big recalculated since the directions give very tiny catapults. We used the best item we could find that could be launched without anyone getting hurt – mini marshmallows! Enjoy.
